The technology behind your care
Precise screening and diagnosis, so we can see what is behind your symptoms and build one plan around you.
Our care brings exercise, nutrition and mental health together with dentistry. That only works when the diagnosis is right, so we use tools that are faster and more accurate than traditional methods.
Seeing the whole picture
Digital imaging shows us your teeth, jaws and airway in detail from the start, with less radiation than older methods, so every plan starts from what is really there.
-
Digital CBCT
Cone beam computed tomography gives us a full 3D scan of your teeth, jaws and airway from the start, and we plan your treatment from it. We can study the outside of a tooth or take a “slice” through it at different levels to understand what is happening inside. Compared with traditional radiography, it uses a minimal amount of radiation and gives more accurate images.
-
Digital intraoral scan
No putty impressions. A small wand records a 3D impression of your mouth in real time, accurate enough to plan your treatment from. You see your own smile up close on the screen, which makes it easier to understand what you need and what we recommend.
-
Digital intraoral X-rays
Intraoral X-rays are the most common dental X-ray. They give us a detailed look at your teeth and jaws, so we can follow their development and catch problems early. Ours are digital: the image appears instantly, it needs less radiation, and our software compares it with your earlier X-rays to show how treatment is progressing.
-
Digital dental camera
A dental camera photographs the inside of your mouth and your whole smile. The photos are especially helpful for following orthodontic treatment and jaw development over time.
-
Dental microscope
Magnification takes us past what cameras, X-rays and scans can show, so we can understand the details of your smile and diagnose and treat with more accuracy and precision. The microscope works with our digital cameras, so what we see can be imaged and documented.
How your bite and jaw joints move
Some problems only show up in motion. These two tools measure how your teeth meet and how your jaw joints work as you open and close.
-
T-Scan digital bite analysis
Articulating paper shows only where your teeth touch, which leaves gaps that call for guesswork. T-Scan measures both the force and the timing of your bite. We compare these digital bite records over the course of your treatment to track your progress and adjust as needed.
-
Joint vibration analysis
Healthy, aligned jaw joints make very little friction or vibration as the discs slide open and closed. Misaligned or damaged joints make more. Joint vibration analysis (JVA) uses sensors to read the movement of your jaw joints precisely, so we can diagnose your specific TMJ problem and plan treatment that matches it.
Mapping your airway
Crooked teeth and jaw pain are easy to notice on your own. Sleep apnea can go unnoticed for years without the right tools. Both of these screenings are noninvasive.
-
Pharyngometer
During an Airway Collapsibility Screening, the pharyngometer maps the size and structure of your airway without anything invasive. It shows where and how your upper airway is narrowed or obstructed, a problem that can lead to snoring, obstructive sleep apnea and other disordered breathing. The results help us decide whether you need a custom sleep apnea appliance, and let us track how your airway changes as your lower jaw is brought forward with an oral appliance, orthodontics or jaw surgery.
-
Rhinometer
We use the rhinometer during a Nasal Breathing Screening. A short pulse of sound waves travels through your nasal cavity and maps where any obstruction is and how severe it is. It is noninvasive and takes about 30 seconds.
Light for healing
We use two lasers for two different jobs: one eases pain and speeds healing, the other replaces the scalpel for lip and tongue tie release.
-
MLS laser
MLS (Multiwave Locked System) laser therapy sends soft pulses of light to areas of pain, inflammation, swelling or wounds. It stimulates blood flow and stops fluid building up in the soft tissues, which supports healing and relieves pain. We use it in TMJ care and in myofascial treatment for the body, and to help you heal faster after oral surgery.
-
LightScalpel CO2 laser
We release lip ties and tongue ties (frenectomies) with a LightScalpel CO2 laser instead of a scalpel, with no sutures. The laser helps prevent bleeding and infection afterward, makes the procedure quicker and more precise, and promotes cell regeneration, so children recover faster.
Start with a full screening
A comprehensive screening and consultation is where we begin, and most of these tools give results in moments.
